F.A.Q.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE TO BRING OUR PUPPY HOME?
Bringing a new puppy home is such an exciting time, but the excitement wears off quickly if you are not ready.
Here is a great article that will help you prepare: Purina Puppy Checklist
To aid in your transition, we will send a small supply of the puppy food that we have been using (Purina Pro Plan Puppy food) as well as a blanket with mom's scent to help your puppy be a little more comfortable in their new home.
LIMITED VS. FULL REGISTRATION
What does that even mean? We believe in responsible breeding and we do careful research to find out where each one of our dogs come from. We want to encourage responsible breeding so we only offer full breeding rights (full AKC registration) at a higher price and to people that will continue the quality of breeding that is best for future litters. If in the case that your puppy breeds before they have been spayed/neutered and you only have limited registration on him/her, you will not be able to register his/her puppies through AKC. Either way, it is encouraged to have your puppy registered through AKC for his/her well being. To put it simply, if you would like to breed your puppy in the future, you will need to purchase on full registration. If you are just looking for a best friend, family pet. or hunting partner, you will only need to purchase on limited registration. I hope this clarifies any confusion. If not, feel free to ask!
CAN I BRING MY OTHER DOG(S) TO MEET MY NEW PUPPY BEFORE PICKUP?
In order to keep our home and kennel as healthy as possible, it is *very important* that you do not bring other animals with you. Parvo is a very powerful, deadly disease for our young puppies and even though the puppies are given a vaccine against it, they are still susceptible to it in those first few weeks. We do our best to protect all of our animals!
DO PUPPIES MAKE GOOD GIFTS?
Short answer: NO!
A puppy (or any pet) is a big commitment and takes time, money and energy to raise and train. When looking to add a new puppy to our family, I have to make sure the timing is right to treat it like a newborn baby, and I must be able to raise a well behaved dog. Neglect will only create a dog with behavioral issues and those dogs end up not being as easy to love like the puppy it once was. This is something to think long and hard about in spite of just being excited that you might get a cute and cuddly puppy. Please take the time to set aside the excitement and think about the time and patience you have to devote to a puppy. They really are like having newborn babies! If for some reason you can't keep a puppy, please contact us! We would like to help you find that puppy a new home to avoid a poor outcome!
